Tasty Bite Cole’s Exclusive Competition – Shop@Coles

June 20, 2013 2 comments

As a coeliac, I have very limited ‘easy’ options when it comes to quick, fast food. For that reason I don’t eat take away, I just don’t as I cannot guarantee the safety of it being gluten free. This is one of the reason’s I love the Tasty Bite range. Tasty Bite are a range of Indian packet foods and they are gluten free as well as vegetarian. A few of these as a staple in the cupboard and you are set for an easy night of not having to cook something for dinner.

It also helps they are very tasty, I like everything in the range, it lasts for a long time in the cupboard and you can easily have it by itself or with rice. Different varieties have different levels of heat, so they aren’t all spicy or too hot.

Tasty Bite have an awesome competition in conjunction with Coles for the next 5 weeks. You head to your closest Coles supermarket, buy 2 of the vast Tasty Bite Indian varieties, head to facebook, like their page, enter your details and you could win one of five $250 Coles gift cards!

There is one $250 giftcard up for grabs every week for 5 weeks so you can enter every week.

The Tasty Bite range is in the International Foods aisle of Coles supermarkets. They have also recently updated the Indian range packaging to a lovely bright yellow colour. But look out for the bone packets as well in case your Coles hasn’t got the yellow ones in yet.

Gluten Free Couscous Recipe using Freelicious Corn Couscous plus Gluten Free Goodies Giveaway!{now closed}

June 6, 2013 15 comments

This is a sponsored post for Freelicious and Digital Parents Collective

I have been diagnosed as a coeliac for almost 10 years and before I was diagnosed I had never heard of couscous let alone try it.

Cous Cous

Thanks to watching many food shows I did get to know about cous cous but of course still yet to try it. I have seen Freelicious Couscous on the supermarket shelves but never had the occasion to buy it and try it. Then thanks to Freelicious the opportunity to try it come by my way.

It amazes me how quick it is to prepare. Literally 5 – 10 minutes and it’s done. Got to love that. As it is made out of gluten free cornflour, has nothing artificial and is 99% fat free it is a healthy accompaniment to any meal.

Gluten Free Couscous with Pine Nuts and Parmesan

Cous Cous Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Freelicious Gluten Free Corn Couscous
  • 1 cup gluten free vegetable stock – I use Massells
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 40 grams pine nuts
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese (please use the proper grated parmesan cheese, not the powder stuff)
  • 2 cups baby spinach
  • 1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green olives
  • handful basil leaves, chopped

  • Bring the vegetable stock and butter to the boil, ensuring the butter is melted.
  • Meanwhile, toast the pine nuts is a separate fry pan with no oil. Only takes a minute, then take off the heat.
  • Take stock and butter off the heat and add the couscous, stir.
  • Leave it for 5 minutes, the liquid will become absorbed.
  • Fluff with a fork and add the rest of the ingredients.
  • Mix gently.
  • Serve

Gluten Free Cous Cous Recipe

See how easy that is? This dish is so so yummy, perfect for a side dish or as a light lunch. We also tried it with just parmesan cheese and it was so good. The boys loved it.

Now is Good and Won’t Back Down DVD Reviews and Giveaway! *closed*

April 17, 2013 17 comments

It’s been awhile since I have reviewed DVD’s and those ones I have done in the past have been Disney Kids movies. So when the chance came to review some more grown up movies I took it up.

Now is Good

Now is Good

I was worried it would be a very sad movie, as it’s about a 17 year old girl with leukemia, Since being a parent I tend to avoid anything to do with kids and serious illnesses.  This movie wasn’t negative like that, it was sweet and there was no real sadness until the end of the movie.

Dakota Fanning played the main character of the movie and she played the part well I thought, it was an easy to watch movie that made me think a little too. It’s rated M.

Won’t Back Down

Won't Back Down

This movie is an inspiring story about 2 women who took on the school system as they were unhappy with government bureaucracy about the way a certain school was ran. It is based on a true event so I think I liked it even more for that.

I love it when people try and change a seemingly impossible task to try and better lives of others and in this case, lives of children. Won’t Back Down is a great movie showing others they can certainly get things changed, it just takes persistence and hard work. This movie is rated PG.

Both DVD’s are now available on Blu-ray for $42.95 and DVD for $36.95 at all the usual retail outlets.

Luckily for one of my readers I have one copy each of the movies on DVD to give away!

Giveaway Details

  • To enter, leave a comment telling me the last movie you watched for yourself (not for the kids!) and whether you liked it.
  • Prize is a copy each of Now is Good and Won’t Back Down on DVD, RRP $73.90. There is one winner.
  • One entry per person
  • Australian postal addresses only

  • Winner will be published on this post on 8th May 2013

Good Luck!

Lego Built Ferrari and Limited Edition Lego from Shell Giveaway (now closed)

March 19, 2013 30 comments

This post is sponsored by Digital Parents Collective

There are times in your life where opportunities arise at the most unexpected moments. Last week I had one of those moments, I was asked along to the unveiling of something exciting by Shell, Lego and Ferrari. It sounded all very intriguing so I had to check it out.

Shell Lego

It wasn’t hard to find the particular place I was after, I just followed the guys carrying television camera’s. Security out the front, special blogger passes on the way in, guys with the camera’s and microphones at the front of the stage inside, bloggers at the back of the room standing on tippy toes trying to see what the fuss was about.

I was not expecting the full media throng but it was Grand Prix weekend and the 2 Ferrari drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa were also there to hold a press conference at the same time.

Shell Lego

They also unveiled the first life sized Lego Ferrari! 200,000 Lego bricks and 810 man hours later….and then the group of bloggers get a chance to have a seat behind the Lego wheel. So much fun!

Shell Lego

Shell and Lego along with Ferrari have teamed up to release limited edition Lego Ferrari’s! There are 6 models, one will be released each week for 6 weeks starting yesterday. You can get them from Shell Express stores when you fill up with Shell V-Power. Each model is only $6 and be sure to get in fast as they will run out the door faster than a Ferrari with powered by Shell V-Power!

Shell Lego

My 8 year old was thoroughly impressed with the range (white car not pictured), he loved the pull back motion (smallest of its kind in Lego) and all of them are now sitting pride of place on his Lego shelf.

The very best part is that I get to share some of the  Lego joy with you. 2 of my readers will get to take home the complete set for their own budding Lego Creator.

Shell Lego

Giveaway Details – ***Now Closed – the winners are James and Jasmine, emails have been sent to each of you – well done and thanks everyone for entering.***

  • Prize is 2 x 6 packets Lego/Ferrari cars (as pictured above). This is the full set as offered through Shell Express.
  • To enter, leave a comment below this post letting me know what Lego creations have been created in your house lately.
  • Open to Australian postal addresses only.
  • Winner will be judge on creativity.
  • One entry per person.
